Our Core Beliefs
Based on the Southern Baptist Convention’s current statement of faith, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000:

 

  1. The Bible — The Bible is the inspired, trustworthy Word of God and our ultimate authority for faith and daily life.
  2. God — There is one true and living God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. Jesus Christ — Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived without sin, died for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and will return.
  4. The Holy Spirit — The Holy Spirit reveals truth, draws people to Christ, lives within every believer, and empowers Christians to follow Jesus.
  5. Humanity — Every person is created in God’s image and possesses dignity and value, but every person is separated from God by sin.
  6. Salvation — Salvation is offered by God’s grace and received through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ alone.
  7. God’s Purpose of Grace — God saves, keeps, and continues His work within everyone who genuinely belongs to Christ.
  8. The Church — The church is a local body of baptized believers who gather for worship, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and sharing the gospel.
  9. Baptism — Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water as a public testimony of faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
  10. The Lord’s Supper — The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience through which believers remember Christ’s sacrifice and anticipate His return.
  11. The Lord’s Day — Sunday is set apart for worship, spiritual growth, and devotion to God.
  12. God’s Kingdom — God reigns over all creation, and believers seek to live under His authority while looking forward to Christ’s return.
  13. Last Things — Jesus will return personally and visibly. God will judge every person, and believers will live with Him forever.
  14. Evangelism and Missions — Every Christian and every church is called to make disciples and share the gospel with all people.
  15. Christian Education — Christian education helps believers understand biblical truth and develop a mature faith.
  16. Stewardship — Everything we have belongs to God, and Christians should faithfully use their time, abilities, and resources for His glory.
  17. Cooperation — Churches should voluntarily work together to advance the gospel, support missions, and meet the needs of others.
  18. The Christian and Society — Christians should pursue justice, show compassion, defend human dignity, care for those in need, and influence society with truth and grace.
  19. Peace and War — Christians should seek peace with others and apply the love and teachings of Christ in every area of life.
  20. Religious Liberty — Every person should be free to worship according to conscience without control or coercion from the government or another religious authority.
  21. The Family — God established the family as a foundational part of society, with marriage defined as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman.
